Rachel Sepulveda

Musician and Vocalist

Rachel has always been inspired by music’s ability to connect people across different cultures and to transport audiences to another place or time. Rachel is greatly influenced by both the salsa styles of Latin America and the bossa/samba styles of Brazil. She has studied singing in both Spanish and Portuguese for over 15 years, emulating artists like Celia Cruz, La India, Gloria Estefan, Gal Costa, Elis Regina, and Caetano Veloso.

Ms. Sepulveda embraces her Puerto Rican heritage leading her own salsa band in Columbus called, Ritmo Ondas. She also provides lead vocals for Columbus’s Afro-Brazilian Project singing alongside Brazilian native, Marcos Costa, singer/songwriter of the Samba School, ‘Bloco Afro Ilê Aiyê.’

Most recently, Ritmo Ondas was featured on the main stage at the 2018 Festival Latino, Columbus and The Afro-Brazilian Project provided the entertainment for Columbus’s Annual Brazilian Party held at Spain Night Club.

For the lighter and more intimate setting, Rachel sings with Columbus jazz guitarist, Zakk Jones, together they offer Brazilian Bossa classics by artists like Antonio Carlos Jobim, João Gilberto, and Ivan Lins. Consider booking one of these projects for your next event!
